Inspiration

It's no secret that the holidays are a crazy busy time of year!

I haven't posted a tutorial in quite a while (in case you missed it, don't miss out on one of my most recent posts here), but that doesn't mean I haven't been crafting lately.

Despite being quite busy with the end of the semester and finals week as well as traveling to see family over Christmas break, I've started quite a few projects that I am super excited to share with you all in the upcoming months!

While I finish all the projects I have started (and have yet to start) and write up tutorials on them, I'm posting some pictures of inspiration I am drawing on for upcoming projects.

Be sure to like Elemental Carbon on Facebook and follow on Twitter to be updated with any new posts!

pv.Body + a discount!

I'm usually at the gym 4-5 times a week and being a college student, I put off laundry as long as humanly possible, so I go through a lot of workout clothes.

And I figure that if I'm wearing cute workout clothes, people are less likely to look at my face, which usually looks like a boiled tomato. Which is where pv.Body (and an awesome discount for you readers!) come in.

Book Garland // DIY

This week is the start of finals week (boo) and thus a lot of studying (double boo), so today's post is a quick one.

Today we're making garland out of an old book! This whole project cost me 50 cents. And no, that wasn't a typo!

(Aren't those dorm room walls classy? Yeeeeah baby.)

It is super easy!

Leather & Gold Feather Earrings // DIY

Today we're making leather feather earrings. That's right. Leather feather earrings. Try saying that three times fast.

Leather feather leather feather leather feather.

These earrings were inspired by this pin on pinterest, but I couldn't find the original site that they came from.

And if you aren't super crafty or you don't have the supplies, you're in luck! I made quite a few extra pairs and listed them in my ETSY SHOP.

Very Gathered Skirt // DIY

Tomorrow I see my dad, brother, (and cat) for the first time since August! To say I am excited is an understatement. It has been a long few months not seeing them!

Today we're making a very gathered skirt. I think really full skirts are super fun to wear and they also happen to be quite easy to make! And you can obviously make it with any fabric you want as long as it hangs well!

Glittery Studded Studs // DIY

I'm so excited for this 3-day weekend! It is definitely much needed.

Today we're making these super cute studded stud earrings!

I have given a few pairs of these away through giveaways on other blogs. I'm thinking of doing a giveaway of a pair when I hit 100 followers, what do you think?

For some I used a dark grey glitter and for others I used pink.

Denim Shirt Refashion // DIY

Today we will be doing a denim shirt refashion! It's quite easy and super cute.

And it was free.
My wallet is doing little jumps for joy right now. Wish you could see it - so cute, little wallet.

But first, a quick message from our sponsors...aka me.

If you missed any of the projects from the REPURPOSE OCTOBER series, be sure to check them out!

Zipper Bracelet // DIY // Repurpose October

I'm afraid of fire.

Kinda funny that I'm a Chemistry major and, well, we have Bunsen burners.

Anyways, what does my fear of fire have to do with crafts? You'll need a lighter or a candle or matches or a blowtorch (pick your poison) for this one!

And it takes literally five minutes.

We're finally down to the last week of REPURPOSE OCTOBER! How sad! Of course, I will always be posting new DIYs each week (that is, after all, the purpose of this blog!) but I have really enjoyed trying to be extra creative and repurpose things!

Don't forget to keep sending in your repurposed crafts for a feature post of my favorites at the end of the month!

I have seen this done a few other places before, but I can't seem to pinpoint the original creator. If that is you, feel free to send me an e-mail and I'll post a link to your site for credit!

Studded Leather Foldover Clutch // DIY // Repurpose October

I hope you all enjoyed last week's Twister Board Raincoat! If you missed it, be sure to check it out here. Seriously. Go do it.

Continuing with the REPURPOSE OCTOBER series, I have an awesome project for you all today.

A Studded Leather Foldover Clutch!

And it's lined. That's class right there, folks.

How is this a repurposed item? Those "studs" in the clutch are office supply store brads! Easily accessible and cost effective!

Don't forget to keep sending in your repurposed project ideas to elementalcarbon12(at)gmail(dot)com! I will be making a feature post at the end of October with my favorites!

Yes, it has a zipper, but I promise it's not scary! (I didn't even use a zipper foot...gasp!)

This tutorial can also be used to make a non-studded, non-pleather foldover clutch! (But what's the fun in that, right?)

Twister Board Raincoat // DIY // Repurpose October

Freaking Pablo, this project is seriously the bomb diggity.

In the continuation of my REPURPOSE OCTOBER series, today we will be making a Twister board raincoat!

Yep. A raincoat. From a Twister board.

BOOM.

Ya heard me.

This would also make a cool Halloween costume!

Don't forget to be e-mailing me your repurposed item crafts during the entire month of October! I will be making a feature post of my favorites at the end of the month, which is a fantastic way to get some great exposure!

My mom got me three (yes, three!) Twister boards from yard sales for about a buck each. This whole coat only took one board, though, so now I have some Twister boards left to play around with!

Monopoly House Pendant // DIY // Repurpose October

It's here! It's here! REPURPOSE OCTOBER has finally arrived and I am so excited to share all of these awesome repurposing projects with you!

I know you've been waiting on the edge of your seats for this.
C'mon, you know you have, don't deny it!

Today for the first week of REPURPOSE OCTOBER, we will be making these really cute necklace pendants from the houses/hotels that belong to a special edition of a Monopoly board game!

Don't forget to keep sending in your repurposed item crafts during the entire month of October via e-mail! I will be making a feature post of my favorites at the end of the month.

The houses come from a special edition of a Monopoly game that my mom got for me at a yard sale. If you can't find similar houses to these and still really want the necklace or pendant, I have them for sale in my Etsy shop!

You can find the listing for this in my Etsy shop here.

High-Low Skirt Refashion // DIY

It's been quite busy around here with studying for midterms (ew!)

With procrastination in full swing, I am here to share an awesome (and easy!) craft with you!

Did I say procrastination? I meant studying. Totally meant studying.

Aaaaanyways...look! A craft!

Isn't that a cute little high-low skirt? All it requires is a quick cut and an easy stitch along the hem.

Before I get to the tutorial though, I'd like to share with you REPURPOSE OCTOBER!

I have a fantastic lineup of DIYs where I completely repurpose some common items. You are not going to want to miss it!

During the entire month of October, I'll be posting like normal on Sundays, but all of my projects will be of repurposed items!

And the best part? Throughout the month, I want YOU (yes, you!) to send me your repurposed crafts! At the end of the month, I will make a feature post of all my favorites! See my Contact page for my e-mail!

Excited yet? Don't try and hide it!

Now on to the tutorial for the high-low skirt.

This is what it looked like before:
